Your photo library has thousands of stories. AI helps you find them.
Traditional photo managers rely on folders, dates, and filenames. My Local Photos goes further by understanding the visual content of your pictures, helping you rediscover memories that would otherwise be difficult to find.
Describe it. Search it. Find it.
Looking for a particular moment but can't remember when or where the photo was taken?
Simply type a description of what you remember. My Local Photos uses AI-powered semantic search to identify visually relevant photos across your indexed collection.
Example searches:
"Family hiking in the mountains"
"Beautiful sunset over the ocean"
"Dogs playing in the garden"
"Snow-covered mountain landscape"
"Birthday cake with candles"
Why you'll love it:
No manual tagging required. No need to remember filenames or navigate complicated folder structures. Just describe the memory you're looking for.
Find the people who make your memories special.
My Local Photos helps you organize and explore your collection through the people appearing in your photographs.
AI detects faces, helps identify familiar people, and makes it easier to browse photos featuring specific family members or friends.
Key capabilities:
Automatically detect faces in indexed photographs.
Recognize previously identified people.
Browse photos associated with a specific person.
Review unknown faces and assign names.
Manage and correct face identification results.
Why you'll love it:
Find memories of the people you care about without manually browsing thousands of images.
Explore your library beyond filenames and folders.
My Local Photos uses AI-generated image representations to understand visual relationships between photographs.
This enables content-based discovery and helps surface images relevant to a search, even when those images have never been manually tagged.
Key benefits:
Discover photos based on their visual content.
Find relevant images across multiple folders and storage locations.
Explore your photo collection without organizing every image manually.
Rediscover forgotten photographs through descriptive searches.
Powerful AI doesn't have to mean cloud AI.
Unlike cloud-dependent photo management services, My Local Photos is designed around locally hosted AI processing and storage.
Your photo collection can remain on your own computer, home server, or NAS, while AI processing runs within your local environment.
Designed for control:
Local AI-powered image analysis.
Locally stored photo search indexes.
No requirement to upload your entire library to a third-party photo cloud.
Control over where your original photos are stored.
Private photo management within your own infrastructure.
Your memories belong to you. AI should help you explore them, not take control of them.
Ask about your photos in plain language—for example, “show me photos from our hiking trips in 2026 with snow”—and get matching pictures from your own library. The assistant is in beta, so answers may be incomplete.
Explore your pictures as a visual library instead of navigating one directory at a time. Browse previews, open a photo to see it in more detail, and return easily to the collection.
Bring favorite moments together in meaningful collections—trips, celebrations, family events, or any other theme you choose. Make the library feel personal rather than merely chronological.
When the source image includes metadata, details such as capture dates, camera information, and available location data can help make sense of an old collection. Missing or imperfect metadata should not prevent you from viewing a photo.
Build a library around selected photo folders, local disks, and compatible mounted network storage. Keep visibility into where your content is located rather than hiding every image behind a proprietary upload workflow.
A growing photo library needs background work: discovering files, building thumbnails, reading metadata, and preparing search information. My Local Photos runs these tasks as background jobs, so you can follow each cataloging and indexing run—and its results—while you keep browsing.
See how a home-hosted library connects to your storage and makes everyday photo discovery easier.
